Since 1992, I have advised hundreds of business owners helping them make more money – often quite a bit more money. Sometimes more money than they’d ever thought they’d see in their lifetimes. Not revenues, not even gross margin, but more than $330,000,000 of additional put-in-your-pocket net profits and proceeds from the sales of their businesses.
Most of the men and women who’ve hired me were already successful running prosperous businesses of all sizes, from startups to companies in the tens of billions. So you might wonder why they thought they needed a business advisor or business coach. The answer is that there was something about their business that they “just didn’t get” and they knew that by getting some outside, look-over-my-shoulder advice, and perhaps some pushing and shoving – maybe even boot in the butt and some accountability for results, that they’d be able to reach their goals, faster.

We might back and forth a bit via email and then have a discussion about your goals and whether it makes sense for us to work together.
Let me tell you about fees, because while my services may seem cheap because they usually produce such a stunning return on investment, working with me does require a serious commitment. There is an annual retainer based on your past 12 month’s revenue, paid quarterly, as well as a negotiated success fee based on results.
Typically, business owners who work with me are seeking to double their sales over the course of a year or two. As you can see the ROI for my advisory services is huge. You can do the math to figure out how much that would mean for you.
What do you get for these princely fees?
Well, really, you get results. And you get them faster than you would get them on your own. And truly, for a smart business owner, nothing else matters.
But some folks still like to understand the process, so here it is:
To kick things off, you’ll complete a detailed questionnaire and strategic look at your business. I'll ask you for all sorts of information so that we can dial in on your market opportunity, understand the competition, see how you operate, and generally figure out what's possible. Over the years, many business owners have said that this process earned back their investment for them all by itself. This is generally a two-week process, after which we meet, typically for two days. It might be with just you, or the meeting could include your entire leadership team. Again, that’s something we will discuss.
During that two-day meeting we analyze the issues in your business, your market, your products and services, your opportunities, your staff, your infrastructure, your finances. We consider everything that’s relevant to putting your business on the fastest possible track. By the end of this meeting we create a game plan designed to help you reach your goals over the next twelve months.
Over the course of the following year, we meet via telephone, typically 2-4 times each month. Many clients communicate on an ad-hoc basis between those scheduled phone meetings working on ideas, issues, marketing, sales, emergencies… whatever needs immediate attention. Occasionally we may meet face to face again during the year, if circumstances call for it.
We’ll also establish a customized dashboard to track the critical success factors and key performance indicators for business, and set up a goal tracking system that will keep you and your team (if you have one) in action and on purpose, dramatically increasing your odds of success.
In short, if you follow my advice – and my job is to make sure that you do – you will make more money and get what you want from your business.
